Visit Pawtucket

There are, in fact, very interesting places to see in Pawtucket, and these places (unlike most places listed in “places to see” sections in other sites) are often places that are quite wonderful to be available for visitation on a regular basis. Of course, a lot of them are historical in nature given the historical significance of the city – the Old Slater Mill still stands on Roosevelt Avenue, as does the Hope Webbing Company Mill. There are a couple of historic districts in the city, as well as houses of historic value such as the Joseph Spaulding House, the Scholze-Sayles House, the John E. Adams House and the Childs-Brown House. These places are quite fascinating to visit, given their historic value.

Apart from registered historical places, Pawtucket also happens to be home to Slater Memorial Park, which is quite known for the Looff Carousel. This particular carousel was hand-carved and built by carousel legend Charles I.D. Looff who also created the first Coney Island Carousel. The carousel was put in the area in 1910, though Looff had started to make it in 1895 – a true work of loving art. Incidentally, Pawtucket's Looff Carousel is known as the oldest running Looff carousel in the world – now if THAT isn't a sight to see, we wouldn't know what is.
